Changing Your Password

Yes, password security is important, but you don’t need to change it every few months. In fact, frequent password changes often encourage people to create weaker passwords with small, predictable tweaks that are easier to remember (and easier for hackers to guess).

Instead of updating your password on a regular basis, focus on using a strong, unique password for your Rezi account. My advice? Use a password manager to help you generate and securely store complex passwords, so you don’t have to rely on memory.

That said, there are situations when changing your password makes sense:

  • You suspect your account has been compromised.
  • You’ve had a data breach involving another platform with the same password.
  • Your current password is weak or easy to guess.
  • You’ve forgotten your password and need to regain access to your account.

How to Change Your Password

Here’s the quick version of how to change your password:

  • Go to the Rezi login page and select “Forgot your password” below the sign-in form to start the password reset process.
  • Request a password reset by entering the email address associated with your Rezi account and selecting “Reset My Password” to receive a verification code.
  • Check your email for the verification code, then copy and paste it into Rezi within 10 minutes.
  • Create a new password by entering the verification code, then selecting “Reset Password” to save your changes and sign in with your updated credentials.

Follow the steps below to create a new password and regain access to your account.

1. Go to the Rezi login page

Start by visiting Rezi and selecting Login in the top-right corner of the page. This will take you to the sign-in screen, where you can enter your email or continue with Google.

To begin the password reset process, select Forgot your password? below the login form.

2. Request a password reset

After selecting Forgot your password?, you’ll be taken to the password reset page.

Enter the email address associated with your Rezi account, then select Reset My Password. Rezi will send a verification code to that email address so you can confirm your identity before creating a new password.

3. Check your emails

You should receive a verification code within a minute. Copy the code from the email and return to Rezi to paste it and continue the reset process.

Keep in mind that the code expires after ten minutes. If the code expires before you use it, simply restart the process and request a new one.

Didn’t get an email? Here’s what to do:

  • Check your Spam or Junk folder.
  • Use the option to resend the code.
  • Confirm that you entered the correct email address.
  • Make sure your internet connection is working properly.

4. Create a new password

Once you’ve entered the verification code, Rezi will prompt you to create a new password.

Type your new password, then select Reset Password to save the changes. Rezi will return you to the login page, where you can sign in with your updated credentials.

When creating a password, prioritize security over convenience. Strong passwords typically include a mix of:

  • Uppercase and lowercase letters
  • Numbers
  • Special characters

For the best protection, have a unique password that you don’t use anywhere else. A password manager can help you generate and store secure passwords without having to remember each one yourself.

Password Tips and Best Practices

I get it; password security isn’t exciting. But as someone who had all their social media accounts hacked and went on the frustrating journey of getting them back (true story), I can promise you it’s better to be safe now than sorry later.

Here are a few simple habits to protect your account and private details.

Choose a complex password

When creating a password, think beyond convenience. Attackers often rely on automated tools that can test thousands of password combinations in a short amount of time. Simple passwords don’t stand much of a chance against those attacks.

A strong password should:

  • Include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters
  • Contains numbers and special characters
  • Be at least 16 characters long whenever possible
  • Avoid common words, names, birthdays, and keyboard patterns

Longer passwords generally offer stronger protection because they take much longer to guess. One of the easiest ways to create a secure password is to use a passphrase: a combination of unrelated words or phrases that are easy for you to remember but difficult for others to predict.

Avoid recycling passwords

Using the same password across multiple accounts creates a serious security risk (especially basic ones). If one website experiences a data breach and your password becomes exposed, attackers may try that same password on your other accounts.

To reduce that risk:

  • Use a different password for every account.
  • Create unique passwords for important services such as email, banking, and professional platforms.
  • Update compromised passwords immediately if a service reports a security breach.

Use a password manager

I’ll admit it, I can’t even remember my best friend’s birthdays, never mind dozens of long, unique passwords. Lucky for me, I only need to remember one password with a password manager.

A password manager stores your passwords in an encrypted digital vault and helps you generate strong, random passwords for every account. Instead of memorizing dozens of credentials, you only need to remember one master password.

Some popular password managers include:

  • 1Password
  • Bitwarden
  • Proton Pass
  • Keeper
  • Dashlane
  • Enpass
  • RoboForm

Summary

Here’s an overview of how to change your password with the best practices in mind:

  • To begin the process, go to the Rezi login page and select “Forgot your password?” beneath the sign-in form.
  • Enter the email address associated with your Rezi account and select “Reset My Password” to request a verification code.
  • Rezi will send a verification code to your email address, usually within a minute. You’ll need to copy and paste this code into Rezi to verify your identity.
  • The verification code expires after 10 minutes, so complete the reset process promptly. If the code expires, simply request a new one.
  • After entering the code, create a new password and select “Reset Password.” Rezi will then return you to the login page, where you can sign in with your updated credentials.
  • Choose a strong, unique password that uses a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid common words, names, dates, and passwords that you use on other websites.

FAQ

What are the password requirements?

When creating a new password for your Rezi account, focus on making it strong, unique, and difficult to guess. A secure password should include a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid using common words, names, birthdays, keyboard patterns, or obvious combinations such as “password123”.

What if you forget your password?

If you forget your password, you can reset it directly from the Rezi login page. Select “Forgot your password?”, enter the email address associated with your account, and request a password reset. Rezi will send a verification code to your email, which you’ll need to enter before creating a new password. If the email doesn’t arrive, check your Spam or Junk folder, verify that you’ve entered the correct email address, and request a new code if necessary.

How can you keep your account secure?

One of the best ways to protect your Rezi account is to use a strong, unique password and avoid reusing passwords across multiple accounts. If one of your other accounts experiences a data breach, a reused password could put your Rezi account at risk as well. You should also consider using a password manager to generate and store complex passwords securely.

How often should you change your password?

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to change your password on a regular schedule. It’s better to change your password only when there’s a specific reason to do so, such as if you suspect unauthorized access, learn of a data breach involving an account that shares the same password, discover that your password is weak, or forget it entirely. Instead of frequent password changes, focus on using a strong, unique password from the start.
