Overall Kickresume's approach to the resume is no longer relevant
Kickresume started strong years ago and focused on creating resumes that were graphic-focused. I believe the team, being remote in Europe, didn't have a strong sense of resume best practices and as result, you'll find a resume software that is not well suited for applications at companies in North America.
Kickresume's response to AI
As a CEO, I can confidently say that LLM (ChatGPT specifically) changed the entire landscape for resume software. Nearly overnight, forward-thinking resume software were able to 10X the value of the software by integrating LLMs to solve creating resume/cover letter content.
I can also say that is absolutely wild how few resume builders incorporated AI into their product, and how long it took them to do so.
For Kickresume, their software was designed in such a way that adding AI/ATS focus to their existing product resulted in a solution that feels like is covered in misplaced AI-bandaids that lack any cohesion with the original value prop of graphically-designed resumes. No matter what, using Kickresume to create their highlighted resume in the picture below, will absolutely not help the job search of a competent professional.
