Make a strong impression with a concise and attractive one page cover letter.

Avoid Common College Student cover letter Format Mistakes

1) Don't send a generic cover letter that is not tailored to the position

During my time at University A, I was a lead developer for the school's social media page. I built the page from the ground up and was solely responsible for both the design and the functionality of the page. I was able to use the skills I developed to build a high functioning website that is well adapted to its target market. I was responsible for the development of the site, as well as its maintenance.
During my tenure at XYZ College, I developed a passion for programming and software engineering. I have sought out multiple opportunities to develop my skills as a software engineer. For example, my most recent internship experience was at Company B. There, I was able to gain real life experience in the field of software engineering. I was able to develop three Java applications that helped to improve the efficiency of the company's operations.

The worst covers are generic. Imagine having to read fifty cover letters that have absolutely no mention of the position or company. Effective cover letters must be optimized by each position that you are applying for.
