Make a strong impression with a concise and attractive one page cover letter.

Avoid Common Civil Engineer cover letter Format Mistakes

1) Don't send a generic cover letter that is not tailored to the position

In addition, my technical skills and leadership skills developed through my work as a Civil Engineer at Company A will help me contribute toward your organization’s success. Over the course of the last three years there I have supervised, trained, and mentored junior-level civil engineers. I’ve also designed many highways, bridges and buildings. During my time there, I’ve been able to use my engineering skills to design and supervise the construction of a new bridge and an airport.
I am currently a civil engineer at Company A, a large firm that has given me the opportunity to work directly with senior engineers and executives on a wide range of projects. I have gained a great deal of experience in project management and working with clients in a wide variety of situations. I have managed several projects ranging from small building renovations to new restaurant construction. Ms. Helena Chang
As a Civil Engineer, I am very interested in the Civil Engineer position in your company. I believe my education and employment experiences make me an ideal candidate for the position.
During my time at MIT, I developed an interest in civil engineering and applied my courses to the design and construction of a new highway. I also helped to design a new drainage system for the campus. I was able to utilize my engineering analysis, design, calculations, specifications, reports, and coordinate skills during my tenure at MIT.
I was also the Civil Engineer Director of Transportation at AEI-American Engineers, Inc. As the Civil Engineer Director of Transportation I am responsible for performing civil design calculations including grading, drainage, paving, geometric design, utility design, sketches, technical comparisons, and similar technical duties as required by various assignments. I have coordinated project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians across discipline groups. I have also researched code issues with City, State, and County officials.
I believe my strong education and employment experience make me an ideal candidate for this position. I look forward to discussing this position further.
Sincerely,
Charles Bloomberg
