You’re probably familiar with terms such as Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. And, you may have heard about blockchain technology.
Over the past few years, they’ve had a significant impact on today’s economy.
But, have you ever wondered how it could change the future of employment?
I’m talking about blockchain resumes. One of Japan’s biggest HR firms is already utilizing this to enhance the recruitment process. It’s a game-changer because they’re able to assess candidates more carefully by identifying those who aren’t fully authentic in their application.
So, how do you get ahead of the trend and create a blockchain verified resume?
We’ll cover everything you need to know in this article.
What is a Blockchain Verified Resume?
A blockchain is a digital ledger used to securely record virtually anything that’s of value.
Once you input and transfer information into its system, the message becomes encrypted. This means it can’t be changed or rewritten by any party.
When we apply this concept to a resume, it means adding the recorded data into the list of blockchain transactions. Since it’s public, anyone can verify its credentials and authenticity by seeing if the information that’s been included is the same as the original.
In other words, it stores key details into a secure public system. Which makes it easy for employers to validate whether or not a candidate is dishonest in their application.
The Advantages of Using a Verifiable Resume
A verified resume uses blockchain protocols to establish a certifiable ledger of authenticity. Therefore, if a third party has done any of the following to your job application:
It will not share the same identifiers as the original document. To put it another way, it does 2 things:
- Helps the hiring manager check if the applicant is the rightful owner of the application they’ve submitted.
- Helps the job seeker demonstrate a commitment to being transparent and honest, which makes you more trustworthy.
As a result, this brings ownership to the applicant and trust to the employer.
Jacob Jacquet, CEO of Rezi, stated that by using this technology:
“It has allowed us to build a verification feature which, for the first time, introduces the concept of accountability, trust, and ownership into our scaling resume ecosystem.”
How to Create a Blockchain Verified Resume
With Rezi, you have the option to add your resume to an incorruptible record to prove that you own the created document.
When users decide to make use of the digital records, Rezi makes a fully encrypted ledger of:
- The Issuer
- The Resume
- The Date of Verification
Soon after, the data is encrypted right onto the blockchain. Once this happens it means your details are kept secure and cannot be altered.
1. Create a Free Account on Rezi
The first step is to sign up for a free account.
This allows you to get on the waiting list when requesting access to create your own verifiable resume.
2. Create Your Resume
You’ll need to create or upload your resume into the Rezi dashboard.
If you’re a new user, you can either upload your current resume or you can create your own using our step-by-step process.
When that’s completed, head over to the “finish up” tab as shown below:
3. Download as a Verified Resume
Click on the “download” button and you’ll find a list of options. For the blockchain resume, use the “export Rezi sign.PDF'' button.
4. Refer to the Navigation Link
At the bottom of your downloaded PDF resume, click on the link provided and you’ll be led to a page where the resume is hashed. Meaning, the information can now be verified.
5. Use the Trnsaction Address Link
Finally, head over to the transaction address link as shown in the example below:
Now you have all the transaction details completed to verify your ownership of the job document.
Stay Ahead Of the Curve
Blockchain resumes are an innovative solution for authenticating candidate applications.
As it provides hiring managers with a more data-driven approach, it plays a part in making a decision.
But for fellow job seekers, it allows us to evolve our resume by demonstrating full ownership of the information we’ve provided with our consent.
And for both sides, it’s arguably revolutionary.
We’re excited to have this new feature into our resume builder and to continue helping our users stay ahead of the curve when it comes to creating the perfect resume.
